I have changed a LOT over the years. I grew up in a small town just outside of Portland, Oregon. I graduated with 40 other people and had known half of them since kindergarten. To say the least, I lived a pretty sheltered life.
I ended up getting my undergrad in English with a minor in Sustainability from Arizona State University. My focus was on cultural studies and how different communities are impacted by the mismanagement of resources.
As I started learning about the different lived experiences of cultures, my own life started to change. As I entered the world outside of academia, I realized that people aren’t encouraged to change. It is seen as a weakness to change opinions.
Since I have graduated, I have been teaching Conservation education for the Oregon Zoo, as well as being an Interpretive tech for local parks. I have designed incredibly fun educational activities that helps change the way people think about nature.
I designed the programs around the things that make me change the way I look at the world. I started to fall in love with that feeling of “I never thought of it that way before!”
I hope that you will be inspired to fall in love with the same feeling. I look forward to sharing more about myself and getting to know you better.
